He has been exhibiting since that time, enjoying extensive creative and commercial success.<\/p><p>Peter\u2019s paintings are characterised by the use of natural materials and historic artisan techniques which create a tactile yet luminous tonality. The handmade nature of his method, from making his own surfaces and paint to applying many coats of genuine gesso to his frames, adds to a sense of grounded homogeneity in his work.<\/p><p>As a firm believer in the value of direct observation, Peter\u2019s current working process includes a daily live painting practice inspired by a Mayes Creative commission to paint seventeen sunrises, celebrating the story of solar astronomer Heinrich Schwabe.
